Born in 1891 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Laura Todd baked for the pleasure of her family, first her children and then her grandchildren, and created her famous first cookies in Illinois, in 1929. Her inspiration ? A family recipe for a small, round cookie that smelled deliciously of fresh butter, cane sugar, vanilla, and chocolate! Their reputation for excellence quickly spread beyond the confines of her small shop…

1933: "probably the best cookies in the world !"

In 1933, encouraged by her loved ones, Laura Todd presented her signature recipe at the Chicago World's Fair and won the award for the best cookies!

The jury reportedly even declared, "probably the best cookies in the world!"

In 1985, the Laura Todd cookies arrived in Paris and were introduced to the French for the very first time.

Very quickly, Laura Todd cookies, with their incomparable softness, were on everyone’s lips. In 1992, the Guide des Gourmands even named them “best cookies”! In 2011, Laura Todd revealed her unique recipes in a book that sold more than 60,000 copies. In 2023, Laura Todd cookies were voted the best in Île-de-France by Le Parisien! In 2025, Laura Todd was ranked the 3rd best patisserie and sweet treats brand in France, with more than 15,000 consumers taking part in the voting—just behind renowned houses such as Pierre Hermé and Cyril Lignac.

Every ingredient in our soft-baked cookies is thoughtfully selected from our trusted local partners.

We use only the finest : Normandy pâtissier butter, traditional French flour, free-range farm eggs, and unrefined sugar. And of course, plenty of chocolate - sourced from fair-trade farms - with at least 30% chocolate chips in every bite!
