During a cooking show on Europe 1, the renowned chef revealed a cookie recipe inspired by Laura Todd's aphrodisiac cookies. Yves Camdeborde also expressed his fondness for the cookies made by our shop on Rue du Four in Paris.

I based it on a traditional recipe by Laura Todd called aphrodisiac cookies. I called it love cookie because we need love right now. I added a little fleur de sel, a little pepper, ginger, ” explained Yves Camdeborde during the show “La table des bons vivants” broadcast on Europe 1 radio on March 28.

It was in Paris, with the opening of La Régalade in 1992, that Yves Camdeborde launched the concept of "bistronomy," combining fine dining with a brasserie atmosphere for inventive cuisine at affordable prices. Now at the helm of Le Comptoir du Relais Saint-Germain, he's practically next door to the Laura Todd boutique at 1 rue du Four, where he's a regular: "I love them [...] It's truly the American-style cookie. There's this slightly creamy quality. They make it in the purest tradition [...] Recently, I tried a Matcha tea cookie that was very interesting," he also stated.

During the show "La table des bons vivants", host Laurent Mariotte recalled the story of Laura Todd: "I arrived in Paris thirty years ago and people were telling me that the cookies were amazing and that I had to try them. There was a shop in Les Halles called Laura Todd which was the first to make cookies. They had the impression that they weren't cooked and they were completely soft."

Soft or dry? That's where the difference lies between cookie lovers and purists, according to Yves Camdeborde: "Do you make an American-style cookie, which is always a bit creamy and quite soft, or a French-style cookie, which is almost like a small shortbread with more crunch? There should be a crispy coating on the outside but a bit creamy on the inside. Technically, as a professional, very creamy cookies give the impression of being slightly underbaked, but that's intentional; it's the authentic taste of an American cookie."
